Reduce Stress and Be Happy

Anything taken too much is bad for the health. A little stress is actually good, as it could serve to help you function at your best. However, stress that seems a little too much could take a physical, as well as mental, toll to your body. Stress should be managed in order for depression or anxiety to be prevented.

So how should you do it then? The following are tips and advice to help manage stress.

Write it out, schedule it out.

It is best to write down everything that seems to be overwhelming. You will find a things-to-do-list much easier to manage than having errands all crumpled up in your head. Writing down the tasks, and putting a specific schedule and time to do them, helps anyone manage activities one chunk at a time. Crossing out an activity that has already been accomplished is very rewarding and could actually help you feel more relaxed when doing the other tasks at hand.

One at a time works.

Focus and put all your attention specifically on one task at one time. It does not help to feel panicky about the other undone or to-do tasks. Thinking about them only adds unnecessary stress and could even hamper in doing the task you are attempting to accomplish at present.

Relax and take it slow.

At least, try not to expend too much energy on activities that are currently not priorities. This is in order for your energy to be not easily expended on the tasks that are not that important, at least for now.

Delegate, delegate, delegate.

You need not do everything all at once, and you need not do everything on your own. Ask for help, get help, or pay for help. When there is a feeling of being overwhelmed that is cropping up, hire someone to mow the lawn or get a sitter for your children. The feeling of being pressed to finish something on time will somehow be eliminated if tasks are delegated. It takes a load off unnecessary worry and anxiety. Moreover, it is easier checking up on how things are, than worrying yourself sick doing everything on your own, all at once.

Give yourself a reward.

You deserve it. Acknowledging your accomplishments, no matter how big or small, is an effort that is necessary before getting on to the next tasks and activities. It reduces stress and could even make you happier in doing the next task.

Give yourself a break.

You need it to be more productive. A ten to fifteen minute break during your work is necessary. Go visit a caf nearby, take a quick brisk walk, or do anything to put your mind off work, at least for a while. This is necessary to refresh and recharge. Believe it or not, you can also stay in your work and sit with your eyes closed as you visualize a peaceful landscape or a relaxing scene. This frees the stress from your muscles and your mind.

Relax and be cool. Doing so makes you healthier, happier, and a lot more productive.

Helpful Ways to Boost Focus and Concentration

We live in a world where everybody and everything is in perpetual competition to be on top. Companies use science and technology to develop new products and services that will outdo their competitors’; students contend with each other to be accepted into Ivy League universities; men and women struggle to outperform each other in a futile attempt to prove which gender is better.

If you are a person who does not know where you are going and is not focused in achieving your goal, there is a big possibility that you may not reach it at all. There are many distractions and temptations around us. Thus, if you do not keep your eye on your aspiration, you may end up going around in circles, instead of running towards completion.

Once you have decided what career path to pursue, the next thing you need to do is to stay focused and concentrate on your dreams and aspirations. Great athletes emerge victorious, whatever problems come their way, because they know what they want to achieve and are set and dedicated on their pursuit of that goal.

Lance Armstrong, a professional racing cyclist, won seven consecutive Tour de France titles even after being diagnosed with cancer, undergoing chemotherapy, and enduring testicular and brain surgeries. He was able to achieve these despite the many obstacles because of his sheer determination to show the world that, despite his condition, he can still achieve his goals. Do you think Mr. Armstrong would be able to win the races if he was not focused on realizing his dreams?

The power of concentration and focus is really an important factor in achieving your goal. You need to eliminate all distraction and put all your efforts into realizing your dreams.

However, attaining focus and concentration is not a very easy thing to do. Most people resort to yoga and meditation in order to achieve utmost concentration. If you do not have time and money to enroll in yoga sessions, do not despair. Here are some ways to effectively harness your concentration powers without hurting your pocket.

Maintain a quiet time daily

We live in a noisy and fast-paced environment. The demands of keeping up with a taxing life can truly hurt our nerves. In order to ensure that we are not affected by stress, we need to treat ourselves with a few minutes of quiet moments everyday.

During our quiet time, we can assess our performance, find ways to improve our lives, concentrate and affirm our goals, or simply relax. A couple of minutes devoted to detaching ourselves with the noisy and cramped world around us, and focusing on ourselves and our inner strength will greatly help in preparing us for a busy day ahead. The best time for quiet time is in the morning, particularly minutes after you wake up, so that you will feel rejuvenated at the start of the day.

Find a peaceful respite

In order for your quiet time to be successful, you need to find a peaceful place where you cannot be troubled by the demands of everyday life. Although some people can maintain perfect concentration even in noisy places, like a stadium or a subway, majority of us still need a peaceful environment to begin harnessing our concentration skills.

Create a serene ambiance

If you live in an apartment full of noisy neighbors, you can play soothing and relaxing music to mask the noise. The sound of gurgling rivers, chirping birds, the rustling of leaves, and splashing of waves could help create a peaceful ambiance in an otherwise crazy and hectic living condition.

Aside from tranquil music, you can also use aromatic oils and incense to help you relax and achieve a peaceful environment. The scent of peppermint will help keep your mind alert, while the fragrance of lavender will help calm your nerves.

Great ideas and solutions to difficult problems often prop up during calm and peaceful moments. Archimedes was able to discover buoyancy when he was in his tub taking a bath. So if you need to accomplish a difficult task that requires utmost concentration, go to a peaceful place and relax for a while. After a few minutes of peace and relaxation, your body and mind will be ready to take on whatever challenge that lies ahead.

The Benefits of Moving Slowly

The Benefits of Moving Slowly

A standard automobile in top condition can sustain 150kph for long stretches of time without endangering the driver and passengers only if these situations are present: a long even, super-clean stretch of road, negligible traffic, and the best tires available. But even then, you run the risk of damaging your cars engine pushing it that hard and even a small rock or a tiny pointed thing that gets embedded in your tires can cause a serious accident.

Try this: run as fast as you can at full throttle and see how long you can sustain that speed. Chances are, your fastest speed was only a couple of minutes five minutes at most. And that is if you are in very, very good physical condition or probably when running for your life. Even professional track and field athletes cant sustain top speed beyond what they trained for. Anything beyond that is abuse and deadly.

Both situations above prove one thing: life was not meant to be lived at a fast pace. Unfortunately, many people forget that. They go about life trying to accomplish things at lightning speed. Success is measured by how fast you can reach a particular ambition. The younger, the better! Slow pokes are considered laughable road blocks and are not worthy of praise or even slight notice. And thats where everyone would be wrong.

You see, there are benefits to moving slowly. First, your steps will be sure. Going after a goal slowly makes you see the plan in its entirety. You can note the pitfalls and the steps needed to reach it rather than whizzing by and hoping that youll open the correct door by chance. Moving slowly up the career ladder for example is tiresome but if you learn everything you can in each rung that youre placed in, youll be surprised that not only are you moving vertically, you are also broadening your horizon at the same time. Not only that, since youve been through the paces and know each one, small detours along the way will not distract you too much. Every step is a learning experience. It might even be the key for you to realize that going to Goal #2 is better than going for Goal #1.

Moving slowly also makes you appreciate the way youve come. You can note who helped you along with those who didnt. You would have avoided the mistakes done by others and you can move up without the benefit of trampling somebody else. At the end of the day, thats more important than speed.

Best of all, moving slowly also makes you remember not to neglect the important things in life like your family and your health. Success wouldnt just be the same without them at your side.
